Long Run

Same photo as last Sunday..minus the mist...7:00 a.m. on Range Road.

Today's long run was 38km : Range Road, down Tourist Drive (22km) & return on the fire trail (16km).

Slowed considerably in last 16km which is rough & rock strewn; used 2 gels, had plenty of water & refills, but......somewhere along the way my Nutella sandwich either jumped out of the back pocket of my shorts or some species of the native fauna - a wombat I suspect! - sneaked up & silently picked my pocket! This was psychologically demoralising when the time came to eat it!

7 weeks to Canberra 50km!

  1. Wow, 38k. I was expecting to read something about a recovery run after your great Thursday night on the track.

Ha ha, you have left me with an image of an Australian native animal with a big cheeky smile on its face after snaffling your sanger!

  2. All good prep for Canberra LL - mind you I don't think any of the aid stations will have Nutella sandwiches - good thing too - otherwise there might be wombats ;-)

  3. When you come to Canberra try Deeks cafe in Pearce shopping centre, especially for the sandwich bread. :-)

    They also have great coffee.

PS. Yes !! Deek is the great Robert de Castella.

  4. Thanks for the tip, Friar! I'll definitely go there some time during the 3 days I'm staying in Canberra for the 50km in April.

  5. Bugger the career as a 'trackie' CB - you should become a landscape photographer. That photo is brilliant!

By the way, I prefer vegemite sandwiches.

  7. Another good long run in the bank Chickybabe. Only 7 weeks to go. I don't know how I am going to keep up with you. I hope you can run as slow as me. ;-)

  8. With that photo, I've just noticed the 'cross' on the ground in front of the sunrise! Did anyone else see it? Strange!

  10. 38km....I feel lazy and I though 35km was a big achievement. One day I might catch up to you LL.

Can't imagine the amount of time you have spent 'on your legs' each year just running. Must have the record for that too!!!

At just over 6 weeks to Canberra I am getting very excited and I know as soon as I see you again I know I will be there!!!
