LL's Blog
My Blog is about my training, running and a few other bits & pieces that happen along the way.
About Me
I'm a three score & somewhat more(!) retired school teacher who did no running until age two score & ten! I began jogging between Bronte & Bondi, before swimming at Clovelly with a best friend, very early, every morning throughout the year. This led to entering some 10km fun runs, and in 1984 the first of 17 (or more by now) City-to-Surf runs. I ran my first (of 20 half marathons by now) at age 60 and my first of now 8 marathons at age 70 .... the 2000 Sydney Host City Marathon. I was lucky enough to be able to run the New York City Marathon in 2003 where I carried the Australian Flag during the Friendship Run from UN to Tavern-on-the-Green, Central Park. At Canberra marathon 2001, I established an age category W70-74 Canberra Marathon record and in 2004 an age category W70-74 Australian Ultra Marathon record for 50km ...and the same records again in 2006 for the next age category, W75-79! Running will always be an important part of my life. Now, almost at the end of 2008...all missions accomplished for this year!
